NAIDOC Week is held in the first week of July to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of our First Nations people.
At Nicholas Street Precinct, we’ve organised a free community event to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026, featuring cultural performances, information stalls, entertainment, food, children’s activities and an Elders’ area.

Bring your family and friends along for a day of community, culture and connection in the heart of Nicholas Street Precinct.
Free parking for the first three hours is available at the Nicholas Street Precinct Car Park, with access via Bremer Street.

Anyone with a beard can participate and with free entry, why not nominate your mate!
Great prizes for each category. Highest award goes to recreating one of Ipswich’s classic beards.
Judgement will come at the Beards, Bikes and BBQ’s event with the Beard Competition / Judging at 12pm at the main stage.
Celebrate Dad with a mouth-watering selection of foods and smoked meats from food vans, a display of heritage motorcycle and retro era cars and music. Get him involved in Ipswich’s own Beard and ‘Stache competition or blacksmithing, woodworking and men’s shed groups.
