Work is well underway on the Ipswich Central update, with the following items ticked off the list as at end October 2019:
The concrete base for the future roadway, kerbs and pedestrian footpaths has been installed. Pavers are due to be installed mid-October 2019.
Work on the stabilisation of the Commonwealth Hotel has now been completed.
New paving in the alleyway between Nicholas Street and the ICON building has been installed.
The framework for landscaping is now installed. This includes drainage, voids for trees, planter boxes and seating.
Trees have been ordered for Nicholas Street.
Underground electrical equipment, which will be used in future events, has been installed.
The contract with Hutchinson’s Builders has been signed and work is underway to mobilise the new workforce onsite.
Piling works are underway on the site of the future Ipswich City Council Administration Building with the majority of this now completed.
Demolition of the old retail tenancies where the future Ipswich Central Library will be located is now almost completed.
Lease negotiations are now underway with a number of businesses.
Retail design for the Metro and Eats precincts is underway.
Design for the reconstruction of the Commonwealth Hotel is underway.
The multi-deck car park is currently being refurbished. While some sections of the car park will be affected, the car park will remain open.
Hutchinson’s Builders have been in touch with the business owners and residents who may be affected by noise from heavy machinery onsite.
